There are only a few dedicated digital programs in the US and they tend to focus on individual specialties, such as advertising, business, design, or technology. In real life — at leading advertising and digital agencies, start-ups, and software companies — business, creative, and technology people work in an integrated setting and are expected to be multi-disciplinary thinkers and problem solvers. What's really needed in this world is a more broad-based educational program that covers the spectrum of digital disciplines and media.
Boulder Digital Works (BDW) was born out of this challenge and opportunity.
BDW is a new kind of digital learning environment developed by the University of Colorado at Boulder through the early support of founding partner MDC Partners and with input from Sweden’s Hyper Island and The Society of Digital Agencies (SoDA). Located at the University of Colorado at Boulder, BDW is a project-based and accredited learning initiative focused on developing today and tomorrow's digital leaders and entrepreneurs. A joint effort of the School of Journalism and Mass Communication and the College of Engineering and Applied Science, BDW is led by acclaimed practitioners and researchers from business, creative, and technology disciplines. Our program is designed for people who want to change the world through digital creativity, innovation, and leadership, and are actively interested in a career in the digital industry.
At BDW, our learning model is adaptive, integrated, and practical. Students will learn and develop the skills that match the real-time needs of the industry, and they will leave prepared to make an immediate impact in the fastest growing medium in the world.
