Wines Of The Wachau (Austria) With Master Sommelier Damon Ornowski    

The enormously knowledgeable and entertaining Damon Ornowski joins us to pour the wines of two of Austria's most important producers: The legendary Franz Hirtzberger and Austria's greatest winemaking co-operative, Domaine Wachau. The Wachau, located less than an hours drive from downtown Vienna, is the jewel of white wine production in Austria. Comprising a mere 3500 acres (slightly larger than Barolo) of steeply terraced, primary rock vineyards along the Danube River, the Wachau creates the most powerful and chiseled Riesling and Gruner Veltliner Austria is capable of. A great, all white flight to celebrate the flavors of spring.
